Destination Overview: 60 km north of Venezuela lies the largest and most rugged of the ABC islands, Curacao. One of the most stunning but overlooked kitesurf destinations, Curacao is also notable for its casinos, nightlife, and eponymous blue liqueur.
With warm balmy temperatures year-round, Curacao benefits from the same trade winds that have made Aruba and Bonaire popular in the kitesurf community.
Three main kitespots offer a variety of setups. St. Joris is the main beginner kitespot. St. Willibrordus (Williwood) is also protected from waves. And then for advanced wave kiting Klein Curacao offers fiercer winds and surprisingly good swell.
Expansive coral reefs rich with vibrant marine life beckon a large population of divers and snorkelers while Christoffel National Park provides ample hiking options and wildlife. Checkout Hato caves, the Sea Aquarium, and Mambo Beach.
Best flat water & beginner kitespot: Butter Spot/ St Joris Bay
Best wave kitespot: Klein Curacao (Little Curacao)
Significant wind patterns: Venturi wind at St Joris Bay & Williwood
After-kite food & drink recommendations: Pop's Place, The Ostrich Farm
